Shuttle Bus Service
Whilst the tunnels are closed a free, timetabled replacement shuttle bus service will operate between 6am and 8pm, seven days a week, to accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists wishing to travel across the river.
The bus has capacity for 24 passengers and 16 bikes and runs every half an hour.
Pick-up / drop-off points are located on the South at Tyne Street, Jarrow and on the North at Tyne View Terrace, Howdon.
Please be advised that due to limited capacity and restrictions imposed upon the shuttle bus operator, the following guidelines will apply:
We ask that all customers show consideration for one another by respecting queues and those already waiting, allowing all unloading to be completed before attempting to load items and making leisure journeys at off-peak times where possible.
No dogs except guide dogs will be allowed on the shuttle bus
Space for pushchairs, scooters, children’s tricycles, bike trailers etc is very limited. Therefore, it may not be possible to travel with these or other bulky items at busy times.
Due to restrictions imposed by the vehicle, the use of wheelchairs on the shuttle bus cannot easily be accommodated. If this affects you please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07821 537 106 to discuss possible ways in which we could help.
Please note, the North East Combined Authority and associates accept no responsibility for the theft, loss or damage to personal belongings during use of the Shuttle bus, trailer or night service. Bikes are carried entirely at your own risk.
